Beginning in the fall of 2003, the members of Revelstone have been filing in to Pécs, Hungary from all over the world with the primary intention of studying medicine. Just as ‘like attracts like’, they gravitated to one another through the hundreds of students with magnet-like force. The common bond was their passion for music of any stripe. Trading stories of past performances and unwilling to let the music inside them die, the flame was ignited and the inevitable decision to start playing together became a reality in the fall of 2006.
Since that time, Revelstone has performed numerous concerts across the country much to the delight of their ever-expanding fan base. The depth and variability of their music appeals to a wide range of music enthusiasts. Coupled with the high-octane energy they bring to their live show, Revelstone has seen its popularity rise exponentially during their brief history. At the PEN 2009 festival “new talent” competition, Revelstone not only took home the highly coveted EKF prize, but were also honoured as recipients of the “fan’s choice” award. Currently, the band is set to embark on a summer festival tour in promotion of their much anticipated debut album "Borders".
The array of musical influences in Revelstone is as diverse as the members themselves. The result is a melting pot of melodic flavours driven by strong rhythmic lines. If you ask them, the music sounds like, well, Revelstone. However, attempts by others to pinpoint their genre include everything from world music to indie rock to neo-soul, with the most fitting label to date being “eclectic” rock. Drawing on their experience and inspiration as individuals, each member offers something uniquely indispensable to the music, which officially stamps it as “Revelstone”!
